School Crest/EmblemThe Emblem of The Lester Vaughan School features a series of symbols, which convey the following meanings:-
The Tree of Knowledge or Life represents The Earth offering to students a bountiful education from its roots of knowledge and creativity. The Leaves convey the meaning that each student has to turn over his or her unique leaf. The Open Book of Knowledge refers to education and intellectual freedom and has on its pages the Greek letters of the alphabet, the ‘Alpha’ and the ‘Omega’, which mean ‘the beginning’ and ‘the end’. The ‘L” square and spear of Longinius, the traditional symbols of St. Thomas, uphold the Book. The Roots suggest that each student must be firmly planted in the basic knowledge of every discipline attempted. Finally, the motto reflects the wisdom of the Book -Per Scientiam Adolescimus -‘Rooted in Knowledge We Grow’. |
